Mediation
Mediation is a confidential, informal process and we consider it a professional development opportunity. Our impartial mediator helps participants engage in constructive conversation to resolve their current conflict and, through the process, develop self-awareness and communication skills to prevent and address future conflict. Prior to meeting with all participants, the mediator meets separately with each in one-on-one meetings to prepare for joint meetings. During individual meetings, the dynamics and sources of the conflict are examined with the aid of the DiSC assessment, a tool for learning about various workplace priorities, preferences and behavioural
tendencies.
Following a determination of readiness, joint meetings occur with the goal of understanding, not finding fault or blame. Agreements are reached which reflect behaviours participants will refrain from and behaviours they will undertake to practise in order to move forward with productive and respectful working relationships.
